Wisteria - Glicine - Blogging Break
Last weekend we went away to Umbria for the weekend to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary. We visited a number of the beautiful hill towns en route and spent a couple of days in Assisi. The plan was to this week write a post or maybe even two, about our trip and then for the end of the month produce one showing how the garden has been performing during April.
However, what do they say about the best laid plans? Since our return home I have been having computer problems, resulting in a complete failure that meant it went away to be repaired. I was told it would probably require a new hard drive, but no the computer engineer told us he had managed to sort it without replacing. It worked for about half a day, then started misbehaving exactly as before. It went back to him, quickly he sorted it, but no he didn't as after working again for a few hours yesterday it is now doing the same again today. My husband has managed to reset it yet again and I am frantically trying to post before it crashes yet again. I have already had a disaster trying to edit a post on my Book Review Blog that needed updating via my ipad and lost the entire post! Does anyone else use an ipad and blogger, any tips?
Even though I have managed to get online this afternoon, looking at the display and formatting of this blog it looks a complete mess with photos and words all over the place. I have no idea if you are all seeing it this way as well or is it just me?
Anyway to cut a long story short it looks like I shall be taking a forced blogging break for awhile well these problems are sorted out. If you are on Facebook please keep in touch via my pages as so far I can still post updates there with the ipad and keep in touch with you all.
I may be away some time as we also have a few busy weeks ahead of us in real life, with Birthday celebrations and friends visiting to look forward to.
I will be back as soon as possible and will in the meantime still be reading your blogs, just maybe not commenting as much as normal.
If this is not resolved we may consider changing computers, as this one is already considered slow and out of date by the engineers, at just over three years old! We are thinking of maybe changing to a Mac next time as we already have an ipad and an iphone. Do any of you have thoughts or advice about this? I have never used a Mac so am very unsure especially as I am technicalliy incompetent.
I am leaving you with some photos of this years Wisteria - Glicine.
See you all again soon with hopefully a properly functioning computer and lots of news to share with you.

I see this is your lilac period!
ReplyDeleteCommunication technology is frustrating at the best of times and this is clearly not the best of times for you.
Can't help with any inside info on a Mac but enjoy your blogging break.
Best wishes
I love the wisteria. Like you use an iPhone and iPad and am contemplating the switch across to a Mac. As to using iPad with Blogger. I purchased an Apple keyboard and have to keep a note of the HTML and to be honest I prefer to blog from my laptop. I do hope things improve on the technical front.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Wisteria. Mine is very big and full of buds. The weather is atrocious here, but things are growing all the same. I have to admit: it would be lovely to have some fine weather!
ReplyDeleteI wish you a few happy weeks ahead. We will all be here when you come back!
CIAO!

Beautiful photos! Best of luck sorting the computer out.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteThe weather here in Somerset is terrible, I love Wisteria, hate technology (at least that which I don't understand) and are a few years behind you in anniversaries (we celebrated our 33rd on April 21st).
Catch up with you soon.
Yvonne
happy happy anniversary! Computers, wow, when they work they are a wonder when they don't , YIKES!!! Take all the time you need, I will find you on facbook!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. What stunning photos of the wisteria! It really is such an eye catching plant. I still remember seeing the one at Monet's Garden in France. The flowers literally seem to drip from the branches. I can't give you any advice on the Mac, I'm afraid, or the iPad, as I have neither. Just my iPhone! I love my pink Dell laptop I must admit. Do hope you get your computer problems sorted soon, because I know how frustrating it is. Enjoy all your celebrations and friends visiting, and see you again later. It's nice that we can keep in touch via facebook.
ReplyDeleteI hate computer problems and we've have some of our own lately, including no internet all last weekend. Grrr..... My daughter currently has a Vasio laptop (which has worked great for 4 years) and she wants to buy a new one for work. She does a lot of social media work and video. Because of that, she is also considering a Mac, which is supposed to be better for video work. My sister switched from a pc to a Mac and is having a hard time getting used to the differences. I'd like a Mac for the reliability but don't know how easily I can adapt to it. There will be a learning curve with a Mac.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your anniversary! Love your wisteria and appreciate it so much more as the spring flowering is so short lived. What a pity about your computer. I have a dinosaur and am anticipating it's demise in the near future. Good Luck
ReplyDeleteI love glicine! Its colour is so beautiful and the smell is divine!
ReplyDeleteBuona serata
Hope you are not away too long. Computers are wonderful when they work - enough said. I had Windows before and now have a Mac which I love. It is so simple to use and has such a lot of features that make life easier, even for the incompetent like me. Good luck, and glad you had a lovely Ruby Wedding celebration in Umbria.
ReplyDeleteComputer issues are such a nuisance. Good luck with sorting out the problems.
ReplyDeleteOh your wisteria is very beautiful. We tried to grow one here with no success I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteI always think computers are like cars - they are great when the work but a real pain when they don't. Hope you get sorted soon.
I don't like computer problems. Hope you have found something that works good for you. We have Asus, Dell ,HP and we love them all. Internet is pretty good here in this scarsely populated area of the world we live in.Wisteria is a gorgeous flower, I have never seen around here. I have a suspition it doesn't grow in this part of the country. :( I love to see which plants and flowers you have there.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary to you and your husband! I am sure all the problems would be solved soon.
ReplyDeleteThe Wisteria is lovely. I have an arbor my son built in my back yard that was destined for Wisteria. It has been four years since he built it and there is no Wisteria. Do you think that counts as procrastination?
ReplyDeleteAgain...Happy Anniversary to you and your husband! 40 YEARS!!!
oh. how. gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteand congratulations to you and hubby...what a beautiful
work of art, your 40 years:)
-Jennifer
How beautiful. Congrats to your great day. :)
ReplyDeleteWow I do love the photos of the Wisteria you have shared the colour is just great
ReplyDeleteUmbria is nice - spent some time there with Sue in 2006 when in Tuscany.
ReplyDeleteI've changed to Mac and it is still taking a little time to mix the two but as time goes by, it will all come together.
You have to go Mac, LindyLouMac!!!!
Don't buy Apple or Mac.
ReplyDeleteI have an extremely expensive Mac laptop. About 4-5 times what I would pay for another laptop.
but horrors. It's six years old.
When I went to buy a new battery for it. ( which I don't mind doing - batteries have a life) The assistance scanned her database and screwed up her nose and said "No - it's vintage" And showed me on the screen "Vintage" it said.
I then had to endure nose in the air, superior attitudes about how old my laptop was. Which was not just the sales people - it's supported by the company using the term 'Vintage"
Well they were quite happy to take many many thousands of my dollars just six years ago. But now offer no service at all. Deliberately.
Did you know you can't change the battery on an ipad.
Result. I managed to buy a battery via some company in China. Almost certainly made in the same plant as the orignal. Apple could easily continue to do this too. But won't.
Well never again will they get my money. And my score in the last month is that I have talked two people out of buying apple. And it will continue. haha.
Thank you for sharing wonderful pictures again
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your return.
Have a nice trip!
:-) Dorthe
Love these photos they are gorgeous. I can't help, I don't even know how an ipad works!!! As for computers my new laptop (1 year old) has been up the creek for the last 5 months and has to go back to the UK where we bought it! I have been on the very old slow XP but at least it works! Diane
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flower shots!
ReplyDeleteHope you get your computer back and soon!
Congratulations to your wedding anniversary. Sorry to hear that you have problems with you computer. When mine didn't work properly anymore I bought a new one, they have become so cheap now that all reparations are nearly more expensive ! I am on Facebook but don't use it, I have no time and find it difficult !
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your Ruby Wedding Anniversary. Enjoy your celebrations. Your wisteria certainly puts ours in the shade
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. And more celebrations. Maybe all your tech problems just means for you to let it all go and enjoy life!
ReplyDeleteHope they sort out themselves soon.
I love the pics of lilacs. What colors. Now, if only I could smell them!
I absolutely love wisteria. Yours is beautiful. Now you go and enjoy your break. Blessings, Ginger
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your Ruby anniversary - you are one year ahead of us.
ReplyDeleteThe Wisteria is lovely - ours isn't even yet in leaf, but it is worth waiting for. Your post looked quite normal - I hope your computer woes will soon be a thing of the past!
Hi Linda! I have had a Mac for four years (MacBookPro) and never had any problems. I remember the old days when I used to use a PC and those crashing were very common. I love my Mac and I am thinking about buying a new one, bigger and faster and leave this to the kids. I also have an IPad and IPhone and love them all! I have nothing bad to say about Macs!
ReplyDeleteHope you will be back soon.
Wonderful Wisteria!!! The scent must be heavenly :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your computer...it seems that technology is against you when in bloody Italy :) I hope it gets fixed far much sooner than the dishwasher :)
xxx
Absolutely gorgeous photos of the wisteria, Linda. Sigh. Just lovely. :-) I'm very sorry you're computer problems are worse than expected. :-( I hope you find exactly what you need and in record time. :-) I shall miss your posts, but hope you have a fantastic time with your dear ones. :-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your anniversary . You are a now a rare and protected species! Have a wonderful time with friends and family and I look forward to reading about Assisi on your return.
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers and I hope you get your computer problems sorted soon. Congratulations on your anniversary, too. Love from Sicily x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful wisteria. Hope your problems with the computer are solved soon. Congratulations on your Anniversary. Hugs...Lu
ReplyDeleteLove wisteria, wonder if it's started by a seed or if one has to get the plant already started.
ReplyDeleteGet back soon as you can. Meantime I shall be checking out my Lazio wisteria very soon, you've certainly set the standard.
ReplyDeleteOh dear - what a time for blogger to force a new formatting structure on all of us, especially as you have computer problems too. And all this technology was supposed to make our lives easier. Remember when we were wondering what we would do with all that "free" time? Love the wisteria pictures. Wisteria actually grows in Texas too so maybe I should look into planting some. I love the lilac colored blooms. Enjoy the celebrations.
ReplyDeleteAnn
Gorgeous flowers!!
ReplyDeleteVery glad I've found your site. I also live and write in Italy and it is always lovely to connect with book lovers. Our glicine was beautiful too this year, now I am waiting for the cherries to ripen for lots of full fruit bowls and cherry jam-making sessions. I do hope you sort out your problems with your computer and congrats on your Ruby wedding anniversary. Hope there was a lovely red stone involved! Best wishes cattherine
ReplyDeleteI too, have been slow to blog..but for a different reason. Easter and all, we were quite busy. For some reason, I am having trouble getting things to blog about. Weather has been rainy, took pictures of the moon and they were not very good..Next is Mother's Day and the kids will be here, which is always a fun time..Friends will visit too..So I am going in a circle.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are beautiful..Wisteria is such a beautiful flower and the smell is wonderful..Hope your computer gets fixed..All I know is how to hit F8 and get into safe mode..and go from there..but that is when you have a virus.
My son-in-law had to do the rest..I do know, he cleaned the computer of everything..but if that has to be done..back up all your things.
I realize this isn't what your problem is..but thought I would share what I do know..not much, as you can see..
Have a happy week..xoCarolyn
Sorry to hear about your computer problems and hope they get sorted soon. Linda that wisteria is absolutely stunning, I so love wisteria. You are so lucky. Take care and be back soon. x
ReplyDeleteIt is no fun when our computers are not working. I love the beautiful flower pictures! Gorgeous photos! I hope you are doing well! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteMama Hen
So beautiful! Happy anniversary. Enjoy the visits with friends and the birthday celebrations. Hope you are able to figure out the computer issues.
ReplyDeleteLindy, wishing your computer woes go away soon. Thank you for leaving us these lovely wisteria photos. I just remembered how good they smell. Wishing you safe travels, sunny days and lots more stories to share with us. :)
ReplyDeleteI have IMac. It has a lot of features you can learn all about the different programs on line or taking workshops at apple stores. If there is an apple store close to where you live, might be a good idea to purchase an apple computer. I'm a blogger too. Beyond the blue domes. I stumbles into your site because I wanted to write about Wisterias. I will sign up on your site. It must be so fun to live in Italy. Happy Spring.
