Last Sunday was a
lovely sunny morning so we decided to spend the morning down at the lake, have
a coffee, take a stroll and watch the Club 500 Montefiascone Car Rally that was passing through, with a
checkpoint at the Borgo del Pescatori. My photos will tell the story of
our morning.
Those of you familiar
with Marta either virtually through reading this blog for awhile or in reality
will notice that the water level in the lake is lower than ever! Even with the
little recent rainfall we have had there are beaches appearing where we personally
have never seen them before. It is worrying it looks like we are going to need
a very wet winter to restore levels.
Then the cars started
arriving, at the checkpoint.
Here are a few of my
favourite cars!
After watching the
rally cars pass through we continued our walk and headed home.

Sunday Morning in Marta - Lakeside
My
slideshow presentation of the the car rally and our walk is about five minutes
long, so if you do not have time to view now, do call back and do so another
time.
Alternatively
if you are unable to view the slideshow, ( I know some of my readers have slow
internet connections that do not give them the choice of doing so) you may view
the photos via My Flickr account

The
following paragraph will explain why the cars were in Marta on Sunday morning.

I am going to be busy with other projects over
the winter so I will not be posting anything like as often here as I did during
the summer months. Also see what I had to say previously here, about not wanting to repeat posts. I am not deserting you and hopefully
will be keeping the Facebook Page updated
for those of you that would like to keep in touch there.
Otherwise I hope to be back with a post or two
during the latter part of October.
Great pictures! The scenery looks gorgeous and I love seeing all the cars!
ReplyDeleteHello:
ReplyDeleteWe too like watching vintage car rallies which happen reasonably frequently in Brighton. There is one particular rally just for Minis alone, a car of which we have fond memories having owned them for years.
The water levels on the lake do look worryingly low. It is the same at Lake Balaton in Hungary. As you say, the winter rain [and snow] will have to be considerable to restore the situation to normal.
What a lovely day you had!
You do Marta justice!
ReplyDeleteWish I were there!
The water does look worryingly low, I hope the much needed rain comes. It is a very picturesque area. I love all the coloured buildings.
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful and beautiful sea. of course, I like those cute cars. :)
ReplyDeleteCiao cara Lindy!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed looking at your photos. Marta (I used to have a little friend called Marta, when I was little!) looks like a very pretty place. Those Algida ombrelloni... my favourite brand of ice cream in the world (it takes different names, in different countries, and I love it!)
We are buying the house I told you about. It's fifteen minutes away from Bari, the beautiful city where I was born. I'm so excited and I can't wait to transfer some of the furniture from NY to Italy and to get a studio sorted out, on the top floor, for my husband. I'm sure the blue sky will inspire his art!
I must email my brother now: he's depressed...

Looks like an amazing day! Love the cars and seeing Italy's beautiful countryside. What a dream place where you've chosen to live.
ReplyDeleteYes Linda, I say it again, you are having too much fun! I shall be back later to watch the rally. I love the slightly grumpy looking face on the bridge. I hope the water levels are restored soon.
ReplyDeleteI shall miss your posts but look forward to seeing them when you do. I do hope you are not going off to have fun, because I shall be green with envy. Lots of love, Linda x
How fun, loved the car show video too. Thank you for sharing xo
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a charming place to visit - and it would have been exciting to see those race cars winding through the streets! Have a good weekend!

ReplyDeleteThere is something so romantic about old cars in Italy.

ReplyDeleteLook forward to catching up with you later in the year.
Le 500 restano le mia macchine preferite; buon week end!
ReplyDeleteThat's really funny, we also had an Oldtimer show here in Waterloo last Sunday ! Only I didn't go because we have it each year and I had been there last year. The water level of your lake is really very low !

ReplyDeleteIt sound like you are going to busy over the winter months. I look forward to your posts when you do them.Take care or yourself :))
My brother has a bright yellow Ford GT, at his funeral friends drove from interstate to be in the cortage. Around 30 of these massive cars, your images remind me of his love for anything with wheels. I especially love the little yellow one, like Brad's car only shrunk. What a great day you had, love lisa x
ReplyDeleteSome of those cars are just so awesome the little yellow one.......oh how I would love something like that so cute are cars suppose to be cute.....lol
ReplyDeleteNice little village to spend a leisure day. Love those cute cars.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the announcement...I will keep up with you on FB. A post about cars....I love cars! (Top Gear is my favorite show).....
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lindy, for this nice report. I like very much auto d'epoca. My favorite one is a tiny yellow Fiat. Good reading for a rainy Sunday evening in Moscow.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. Thank you for letting us know that you won't be around quite so much for a while. I'm very interested to know what you are going to be busy with over the winter!! What a lovely way to spend the day, around the lake like that. It all looks so relaxing. Super photos as always. I saw a car rally like that with really gorgeous old cars, when I was in Lake Garda a few yeares ago. It was wonderful. Take care and we'll keep in touch on facebook.
ReplyDeleteThose pictures all look so inviting. I love the bright colored boats. I imagine they look like candy floating in the water with all those cheerful colors :) Nice cars too, those pictures made me smile :)
ReplyDeleteWow what a beautiful walk you took! Great photos and interesting cars!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to spend the morning . Lovely lake and boats, Great cars, great weather, coffee ...what's not to like?

ReplyDeleteThanks ;o)
I was unable to visit your blog as your profile is set as private, what a shame.
DeleteWhat a lovely Sunday you must have had. My husband would have loved the car rally. Water levels are really low here as well. Fall has brought rain, but after this past summer we have a lot of catching up to do water wise.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenery!

ReplyDeletethe restaurant you mention is still there and the photos. Thankyou for your visit, sadly I was unable to visit your profile, the link does not work.
DeletePerfectly lovely Sunday! Marta is such a beautiful island with moderate climate. These post reminds me of “The Maltese Melody” by Herb Alpert & Tijuana Brass which inspired my longing for unknown Marta. It made a great hit in Japan with the Japanese subtitle “マルタ島の砂・The sand of the Marta Island”. Each and every vintage car is lovely.
ReplyDeleteYoko
I so enjoy looking at your photos of Marta and other Italian villages. The colours, the architecture, the rooftops and flowers...all the little details that make me long for Italia! Have a good weekend LindyLou.
ReplyDeleteHas something happened to your blog, I was unable to reach it today?
DeleteI love the photos. I can not imagine driving one of those cars. They are so small but so cute. Lovely town. I sure would adore visiting such a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely photo tour of the area! Lots of beautiful cars in Italy! We are also experiencing a drought over here and it has impacted our lake water levels too. Hopefully this winter will bring more rain and snow.
ReplyDeleteI know you're on a break but had to stop and say how much I enjoyed sharing your walk around the lake. Even though the water is lower, it's still just lovely! Enjoy your time away and see you when you return.
ReplyDelete– g
I LOVE hose cars! That must have been such fun watching them all go past! - even the Mini!!! What a great day out!

What a wonderful snapshot, I really felt I was there. I'm off to see the Bond in Motion exhibition at Beaulieu this weekend and this got me in the mood. :)
ReplyDeleteLet's hope we all get some rain. Our lakes here in Texas are extremely low too. Lovely pictures. Nice to have a little glimpse of Italy this morning.
ReplyDeleteAnn
