Royal Wedding Tribute – Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Best wishes to the happy couple - I migliori auguri alla coppia felice.

Prince William kisses his new bride Kate on the balcony of Buckingham Palace

It will be no surprise to those that know me that I have spent most of today glued to the television, watching The Royal Wedding of Prince William, now The Duke of Cambridge to Catherine Middleton.

A wonderful and emotional occasion for which I decided to make my own memento of a video of still shots of the day. From the arrival of The Queen at Westminster Abbey, right through the ceremony, the landau ride, to the balcony kiss and then the newly weds leaving Buckingham Palace for Clarence House in the open top Aston Martin.

As I feel proud to be British today I decided it was appropriate to share, thanks to Sky News for the coverage of the event today which we were able to watch here in Italy.

It was the historic fairy tale wedding that was expected, the forecast rain stayed away, the sun shone, London was full with hundreds of thousands of tourists and billions of people around the world were able to watch the live coverage.

In a stunning bridal gown with lace applique floral detail and a 2.70 metre train, which was designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, Catherine walked up the red carpeted aisle with her father, as a commoner. Leaving Westminster Abbey less than an hour and a half later with her husband at her side the former Catherine Middleton became HRH the Duchess of Cambridge.

I will let my little slide show tell the rest of the wedding story and just say Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge”.

Photos were all taken by myself but from the television courtesy of Sky News coverage.

  8. I enjoyed your post. While many here on the East Coast of the US got up just after 4:00am to watch the ceremony, I didn't, so I am very appreciative of your "coverage".

I think Kate is absolutely stunning and truly looks like a princess.

  9. I got up at five this morning and loved watching every minute of it. Even as an American I am a fan of the Royals. Most especially the late Princess Diana's children.

  10. This is such a great post! Thank you! I watched everything too as for once, the time difference was on my side! The only thing I didn't get to see live was the happy couple driving in the vintage Astin Martin.

    What a happy happy day!

Hope you enjoy a royally fabulous weekend too.

    Best wishes always,
    Natasha.

PS I am so glad you enjoyed the card featuring Salisbury Cathedral. I had no idea your family lived there!

  11. I certainly understand your sense of pride today. I tried the same thing and took photos from my front row seat "at the wedding". I was amazed how well the photos worked out and made a collage to add to yesterday's post. It was so nice to have a cup of tea while I watched William and Kate. her dress was stunning!

How can the Prince be a prince AND a duke?? I could never keep all that stuff straight, lol!

  22. I managed to watch part of the wedding and then I had to go out, but I did catch up on the highlights online. I remember watching Prince Charles and Diana's wedding when I was little (!), but I love this one so much more. :)

  25. I'm here to wish you a very Happy Birthday, Lindy!
I won't have a slice of Thisisme's cake, though, thanks...I prefer the chocolate one she baked for Jenny. I'm going to see if I can have seconds of that one :)

    ENJOY YOUR SPECIAL DAY!!!

  26. Hi Linda, I came across your blog through Thisisme's blog. I too am from England, but I moved to Malaysia 5 years ago. I live in a small town called Kuantan in West Malaysia with my wife and daughter. I guess I keep my blog similar to yours in which I post about my tropical life on this side of the planet.

I loved the Royal Wedding immensely, also watching on Sky News. It filled me with deeper pride of being English!

It's great to come across your blog and hope we can keep in touch!
