Scenes From A Spring Walk

One of my favourite ways to relax and unwind is to take a walk or a cycle ride in the countryside that we are lucky enough to be surrounded by. I can either take off in the direction of the lake and Marta, or if I head in the other direction it takes me into the network of lanes that lead nowhere in particular but deeper into the countryside above the lake where there are outlying properties.

The photographs I am sharing today are scenes from one such walk that I took last week, on the last day of March in fact when I actually remembered to take my camera with me.

As usual when I have my camera with me I tend to be snap happy and take rather too many shots, once taken I am then not very good at deleting them so this is just a small selection of the eighty eight photos I took!  If you want to see more they can be viewed at My Flickr account in the album entitled Spring Walk March 2011

I can see this field from the house and have been watching it gradually turning a golden yellow.

Field of gold

There was a lot of nest building going on.

Cattle

This young one was curious and wanted to make friends.

A view of Capodimonte on Lago di Bolsena.

A view of Marta, Lago di Bolsena.

View across the fields towards Lago di Bolsena

Lots of different wild flowers to admire, these are just a few of the varieties I found.

Carpets of wild flowers in the olive groves.

Majestic Oak

View of the town of Montefiascone.

What a beautiful day it was and I returned home feeling so much more cheerful after some fresh air and exercise.

Fresh air and sunshine are certainly good for this soul. I am spending a lot more time outside again now it is Spring and there is plenty to occupy me in the garden.

  7. These photos have cheered me up no end as I am about to fall into bed. We have putting up new ceilings and insulation today and I am pretty exhausted. The insulation is a nightmare, gets into everything. I have several days of this to go with only a break on Sunday. That will have to spent in the garden! Diane

Like you, I shall be spending much more time outside now that the weather is getting better. Sending you warm wishes.

  12. Hello to Iraly from Kentucky. It is indeed beautiful there, I can see from your photos. BTW your photography is great. Glad to hear that crucifixes continue to be displayed in homes in Italy. Most folks here who have them are older, like me. Thanks for stopping by.

  20. Beautiful photos. Big thanks for sharing the flower ones, as you know I don't get to see spring flowers here as we don't have spring. 3 seasons - hot, very hot, and dust.

  21. You are so lucky to live in such a gorgeous place. Love that field of gold. Are those dandelions? They look beautiful. It's too bad that here we would never allow them to spread so widely.
