I am fascinated by doors and always seem to be taking shots of them or windows, or buildings, I thought it would be fun to share these architectural photos on Friday Photo occasionally, starting this week with a door!
I also posted this photograph yesterday on Beautiful World as part of the Thursday Theme which was squares and rectangles. This is what reminded me as I did think about doing something like this ages ago. In fact I wrote a post in October 2009 entitled Doors, so it has not taken me long to organise!
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Don't forget windows - they might become jealous of doors. Windows are just as photogenic.....
ReplyDeleteI too love taking photographs of windows and doors, the older the better!!
ReplyDeleteI love your door photograph. I am going to look at your post from 2009 with the doors!!
Have a good weekend, Jackie in Surrey UK
I enjoy the look of doorways and windows and window boxes and stairs. I may be going to Europe this year and can't wait to photograph the architecture I see there. Last time I didn't have a digital camera.
ReplyDeleteFollowing you here, too. So I can enjoy Italy from afar!
ReplyDeleteI am a big door fan and love taking photos of them, so I am really going to enjoy your posts, as I guess you will be continuing this as a series.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so happy to see this, Linda. :-) I adore doors and windows too. :-) I will be looking forward to more of them. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe're on the same wavelength here, Linda. I also love taking photos of doors (preferably old) and unusual shaped windows (I found a lot of these in Venice!).
ReplyDeleteHow interesting. I never really take pictures of doors, maybe because we have a distinct lack of unusual ones in small town Ohio.
ReplyDeleteLooks sort of like a modern version of those enormous medieval castle gate doors!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE doors. Didn't think I would find so many interesting and beautiful ones in just one country.
ReplyDeleteI love to photograph doors, too! Especially the ones in Italy. I must have a huge album on doors only, and once in a while I use them in my blog, framed and hanging on the wall, or just draw them.
ReplyDeleteI always imagine what's on the other side? And if I have a chance I try to take a look and find out!
You should have quite a variety in Italy, so many centuries of art and architecture.
ReplyDeleteI love windows and doors too. I have a great photo of a row of wooden shutters open. An Italian scene of a window if just outside my kitchen door.
ReplyDeleteI love the texture of your door photo, I can almost feel the door. Devine!
I love doors and windows, too! I've taken pictures of them from all over the world. I'm looking forward to seeing your. I love this one. The texture is fascinating and that door knob is gorgeous! Love this idea!
ReplyDeleteI read your profile. Good for you for having an adventure in Italy. When we closed our furniture stores and were really retired a year ago, we considered moving to Nova Scotia, Canada. But we didn't want to be so far from our four children. Instead, we bought a large house in Connecticut with our daughter and her husband and left Virginia behind. So we are having our own adventure. Christmas in front of the fire, looking out at the snow through two tall window walls, presents under the nine foot tree and space for the whole family told us we made the right decision. But I envy you Italy!
ReplyDeleteI love doors too. I particularly like red doors.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting with all those squares; almost gives it a quilted look.
ReplyDeleteI am interested in doors and most any architectural detail that catches my eye regardless of the reason.
I went to your earlier post on doors - you are in a good location for old doors with substance.
Did you do a post with pictures of you door renovation?
I like doors too! And gates. The architecture in Europe is just so amazing compared to the "young" things you'd find in the States. I need to start taking more pictures too!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Thanks everyone for all your comments of appreciation. I will definitely be posting more architectural Friday Photos.
ReplyDeleteThat's a magnificent door, and I don't see this often..
ReplyDeleteI love doors - and that's a great one :)
ReplyDeleteIcy-BC@ I am delighted you liked it.
ReplyDeleteI add myself to the long list of door lovers. :) There's a brilliant little book called "The Doorbells of Florence" that explores a similar idea...I highly recommend it!
ReplyDeleteSomebirds@ Ever growing it seems, thanks also for the book recommendation.
