As many of you already know my beloved Mum has been in a Nursing Home since the beginning of this year. When we were in the UK last week for a wedding she was in good form considering her mobility problems and happy in her environment. It was a blessing that we saw her so recently, including our eldest daughter over from Hong Kong, as yesterday afternoon she suffered a severe stroke and just a few hours later passed peacefully away. A few days previously I had been chatting to her about the wedding and how our garden had grown in the few days we were away, she had lots of questions and seemed very happy. I am so very grateful that both she and my Dad had been able to visit us in Italy, together in April 2005 before my Dad died and Mum again in September 2008 with my sister.
This is my tribute to my wonderful Mum.
Tuscania April 2005
Montefiascone September 2008
Thanks Mum for being such a special lady.
This second song is in English and Italian.
No words, translations or biographies today, just the music from Celine Dion and Josh Groban and a video of recent weather over the lake taken not far from where I took the photo, Mum thought the Lago di Bolsena was a beautiful place and I think she would have loved this video and the music I have shared here, hopefully so will you.

PS About the fuschia--I'm ignorant sometimes--I just used the word for the color facet/meaning of it and not as an actual flower's specific name and didn't mean to confuse anyone. Sorry!@
Lindy, your mother had such a kind expression and a beautiful smile. I'm sure she must have been a very special lady.
ReplyDeleteThe poet Tennyson said:" A thing of beauty is a joy forever" She will forever be with you.

ReplyDeleteDear Linda, this is such a lovely tribute to your dear mum, and wasn't it wonderful that you saw her just that short while ago, and that she heard all about the wedding and your beautiful garden. It is always so sad to lose one's mum, but she will always be with you. You wouldn't have wanted her to suffer after having that stroke. I am glad that she slipped away peacefully and, as Bouncin'Barb said, she is now at peace with your dad and in a much happier place. Lovely photos today with beautiful songs to go with the post. Hugs to you my friend.

Oh, Lindy! I am so sorry to only now hear the news of your Mum's passing on the 11th. This is such a lovely tribute to her memory and it's abundantly clear that she cherished and loved by her family until the end. In a way, it was a great blessing that her death came about so suddenly. She would probably have hated being bedridden and I'm sure would not have wanted to be a burden to anyone. The pictures you have shared with us are so beautiful. I do hope the lifetime of shared memories sustains you as you deal with this next phase of your life.
