Fathers Day is celebrated in the UK today and although my Dad is no longer with us in person 9 Aug 1924 - 3 Dec 2006 he is still very much with me in spirit so I have decided to make my Sunday Song post this week a Tribute to My Special Dad. In Memory of Dads gone but not forgotten.
Happy Fathers Day. Family Photo Tuscania April 2005
Even if you are not celebrating today I hope you will enjoy this selection of songs and be able to reflect on happy memories of time spent with your Fathers whether no longer of this earth or happily still with you.
In Italy Festa del Papa was celebrated on the 19th March 2010. Fathers Day is in fact celebrated on many different dates around the world as you can see if you take a look at this chart.
My first choice is sung by Teresa James My second choice is sung by Brianna Haynes
My third choice is sung by UmbertoTozzi
My fourth and final choice is the great Luciano Pavarotti

ReplyDeleteHi Linda.. My dad is gone too, and certainly never forgotten. I unfortunately lost my dad when I was 10 years old.. he passed over 40 years ago now, but he is with me all the time. Thank you for this wonderful post. Happy Sunday !!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda for the memories you have brought back for me as well. Wish I could play the YouTube inserts but...... Diane

ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday! Hope you had a great one Linda.
ReplyDeleteI love Luciano. He was so great!!!
Cathy - Thanks, it meant so much that he was able to visit us in 2005 as already by then his Parkinson's was quite bad.
ReplyDeleteAnne - That is so sad, but glad you still think of him often and enjoyed the post.
Diane - I so wish there was a way for you to share the music with the rest of us.
Katie - Yes Natasha is a great girl and I love her Blog. The header photo is our towns little harbour. I will be posting more photos of it this week, hopefully you can visit Italy through my Blog until you get to visit for real.
UM - Thanks he was so special to me.
Kimberly - We did have a good day, posting about it later in the week. glad you enjoyed Pavarotti.
I love this post Linda. I have actually got the Pavarotti music playing as I am writing this. I forgot that it was father's day on the weekend as we celebrate it in September here in Australia.
ReplyDeleteI hope your day on Sunday was lovely and thanks for sharing these wonderful songs in memory of your father.
Best wishes for a beautiful week,
Natasha.
A touching post, LindyLouMac. I miss my Dad on Father's Day too so I know how you feel.
ReplyDeleteNatasha - Father's Day seems to be celebrated on many different dates around the world. I wonder why it varies so much?
ReplyDeleteWL - I think most daughters always have a special place in their hearts for their Dad's.
