Our Garden in March - Il Nostro Giardino in Marzo

     March 15th 2011 040          March 2011 8

These thumbnails are from the first half of the month and can be viewed in full size here.

My first ever garden post on News From Italy was in March of last year. I stopped posting this series over the winter, the last one was in November Our Garden in November. I was planning to recommence the series at the end of this month when I thought some colour would have returned to the garden.

To my delight although it was still not officially Spring there were plenty of signs of colour in the garden already and it was worth producing a garden post for Our Garden in February

March has certainly been a month of weather variations but that is to be expected during Marzo Pezzo - Mad March as the Italians call this month.

I share with you here just a small selection of the shots I took around our garden during March and if you are interested the entire album can be viewed on Flickr.com in the album entitled  Our Garden in March

No daffodils or narcissus photographs appear in this post as I have already dedicated one specifically to them earlier in the month.

Mosaic Monday - Narcissus – Daffodils and I have also chosen it as my Post of the Month, details of which you can find at the bottom of this post.

Pansies a cheerful sight all Winter but now doing really well.

A close up of our first Iris.

Peach Blossom

Camellia

Apple Blossom

Magnolia

As I happen to be posting this months garden post on a Thursday I am taking the opportunity to join in with a Garden Party over at Fishtail Cottage. I have also received an invitation to join another party at Tootsie Time so also linking up with Flaunt your Flowers this week.

I have also linked my favourite post of the month from this blog to the first in a new series at Happy Homemaker UK

  8. Truly stunning photos there Linda, of some lovely flowers. You know how I love magnolias and, also, pansies! And those are just the colour I love. After the lovely weather of last week, it's really turned again here, very windy, raining and chilly. Oh dear, when will spring finally arrive and settle down! :(

  15. Such lovely photos of your garden in March. I think my very favorite is the white iris so nicely bearded. Irises always make me happy being the only flower that grows more beautiful with each passing year. I also enjoyed the Italian description for March. It certainly has been mad here as well, but then April doesn't look like much of an improvement.

  36. Gorgeous flowers, Linda! Why don't you join "Blotanical" community? It's great, and you'll find a lot of lovely people there.

  37. Such variety to behold in your garden through the seasons. To see your works come to fruition must be very rewarding.
Before we took off for a few days at the beach, I worked quite hard digging holes and planting 6 new shrubs, and pulling down some vines that seem to grow faster than I can keep up with. I thought the yard looked fairly cared for, and at least showed promise. While there we saw beautiful gardens, both natural and formal. Many had azalaes taller than I am that were in full bloom. When I returned home I looked around and all I could say about my yard was, "Pathetic."
For the time being I will just have to continue to enjoy the labors of others and certainly yours. So I thank you for sharing.

  42. LindyLouMac, I am so glad you visited my blog as it allowed me to find yours. I am enthralled with Americans moving to Italy and I will be exploring your blog - can't wait to do so! Also I'm your newest follower! Your camellias are gorgeous. I have seen them in Pacific NW and southern gardens and I don't think they are winter-hardy where I live, but I surely am going to check and see.
